Comments
Ankhenesites may be translated as “Her father lives for her”
This is a female individual about whom little is known and who lived during the Late Period (possibly the 30th Dynasty)
A parallel for this individual has been identified in Zagreb 2. Its provenance is the former collection of Franz Von Koller, born in 1767 in the Bohemian city of Münchengrätz (present-day Czech Republic). We know that the Koller collection was dispersed and that part of it was probably sold. It is possible that this example in the MAN originates from that sale.
In Chappaz’s shabti database, five records appear being the same name and filiation, corresponding to examples housed in Milan, Como, Figeac and Luckknow (India)3.
Chappaz doesn’t include either the Zagreb or the Madrid examples, wich suggests that additional examples of Ankhenesites may exist dispersed among different private collections and/or museums.
(This ushebti comes from the colección de Don Tomás de Asensi)
